Hydroxypropyl Betadex is 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin, a partially substituted ether of β-cyclodextrin. The USP-NF species that the molar substitution for Hydroxypropyl betadex is between 0.4 and 1.5 hydroxypropyl groups per anhydroglucose unit. It is supplied as a white or almost white, amorphous or crystalline powder.
