Cyclodextrins are a family of cyclic oligosaccharides produced by controlled enzymatic hydrolysis of starch. Also known as Schardinger sugars or cycloamylose dextrins, Cyclodextrins are composed of 5 or more α-D-glucopyranoside residues linked by 1,4 bonds. They are supplied in the form of crystalline, non-hygroscopic powders.
