Microcrystalline Wax Excipient | Uses, Suppliers, and Specifications

Microcrystalline Wax (es) are waxes produced through the deoiling of petroleum products (as a by-product of refining heavy distillates from lubricant oil production as part of the petroleum refining process). Their chemical constitution is heterogeneous, and comprises straight-chain and randomly branched saturated alkanes and cyclic hydrocarbons. They are supplied as waxy solids or flakes, in a variety of colours, from white to yellow, amber, brown, or black depending on the grade although pharmaceutical grades are white or yellow.
