Polyoxyethylene Sorbitan Fatty Acid Esters | Uses, Suppliers, and Specifications
Polyoxyethylene Sorbitan Fatty Acid Esters are a series of synthetic nonionic surfactants commonly known as Polysorbates (e.g Polysorbate 20, 40, 60, and 80). They are obtained by addition polymerisation of ethylene oxide to sorbitan fatty esters. The fatty acid portions of the most commonly encountered polysorbates (i.e Polysorbate 20, 60, and 80) are respectively lauric, stearate, and oleate. Polysorbates are supplied as oily, yellowish to brown viscous liquids.
