A key challenge faced by formulators during new drug development and testing is the selection of the optimal dissolution medium for conducting in vitro tests that accurately reflect the rate and extent of drug dissolution in vivo.
In this webinar, Dr. Hamid Merchant will describe a simple approach for selecting practical, yet physiologically relevant BDM representative of different physiological conditions relevant for evaluating dissolution of immediate release formulations. Specifically, this approach describes selection of pH, buffer species, and concentration and evaluates the importance of including bile salts and phospholipids in the BDM based upon drug substance log D, pKa, and intrinsic solubility.
